Update at the farm!

Well, I dropped off Lois, Rex and Bathilda at the vet’s last night. Am picking them up after work and bringing them home for recovery. Wednesday, Koby is going to the vet’s to remove his stitches and our new Pug mixed Japanese Chin named Harley is going to the vet’s for his check-up, rabies and DA2PP. Harley is very cute and we are quite sure he will find a home quickly! Now, for my babies, have to talk about them as I am in LOVE!! They are so adorable, it is making me walk backwards into work every morning, having to leave them behind the whole day to be cared and fed by someone else – mommy is a bit jealous and wants them all to herself Hee! Hee! They are just too cute for words, now are paper trained when they finish their meal, I wet their bum and pee areas, set them on the floor and off they go sniffing for the paper and doing their business on the paper. Then, they come running back to snuggle with their new mommy, crawl back on my lap and usually fall right asleep but lately, few days now, they have started playing with my free fingers, licking my arms and toes, growling and biting in a playfull manner – way too cute for words. Thank you so much again for all the donated milk, it is making them big and strong and although now they are almost at 2 cans a day – they are worth every penny! I forgot how much I love motherhood Ha! Ha! Ha!

Vet’s this week!

The farrier came last night, every 3 months he comes to trim the horses hooves but for some reason Mo was acting up, he was really un-impressed with have his hooves trimmed and really is strong for such a small thing – I had to tie him to the fence not to get stampeded, but we managed to get him done! He is so sweet usually, had never seen him so freaked!! Anyhoo, a little update while I am typing. Going to drop off Rex, Lois and Bathilda at the vet’s tonight, they will have their neuter/spay, DA2PP, Rabies and check-up tomorrow morning and then will bring them back to NARC for recovery tomorrow night for the week. Lois also needs a dental cleaning, possible extractions and a lump removed! Lucky Rex and Lois, both seem to have a home lined up and we are sure Bathilda and Nyleina will be going quickly, they are way too nice to stay at the rescue! Bathilda already has quite a few people that met her which are possible adoptions this weekend – we will see! Then on Friday I am bringing the remainder 4 Nyleina puppies for their 2nd DA2PP shot and Rabies and also Bathilda’s 3 remaining pups for their 2nd DA2PP, they already got their Rabies last time we went! Will keep you posted on how the surgeries go and how all the babies are!

Thank you everyone!

Although I know for sure that we need more puppy milk, I wanted to send a special thanks to NARC donors and clients who came by this weekend with 6 cans of milk and a gift card to be able to buy another 4 large cans at Petsmart and of course dog and puppy food, javex, etc.. The porkers are now drinking a can and a half a day!!! From last week drinking 5 oz per meal to now a whole baby bottle full at each meal (every 4 hours)!!! But, as some of you have seen this weekend, they are growing, have more than doubled and are just so adorable. I’ve taken a few videos which I will upload shortly so you can see their beautiful faces. They are smart, already going on the paper for pee and poop after drinking – YIPEE! They are turning 3 weeks old tomorrow, born July 29th and already learning! Thank you so much, sending you all kisses and hugs from all the doggies here at our wonderful zoo Ha! Ha!

Needs at NARC

We are in need of cans of puppy milk, can be powder so we can mix ourselves! Bought one last night and almost used half already, other half will go today so what is the saying? A can a day keeps the doctor away lol. I am going to the vet’s tonight with Koby, Maggie and Minnalousche so will buy another can of powdered milk for the next 24 hours – YIKES!

We are also in need of more puppy and dog food. Just bought 4 bags of puppy food last week, with a few donated from clients and yet, we still need more… Those 12 poopers of ours sure know how to empty bags of food Ha! Ha! Ha! Although, they surely are looking good, growing and that is definitely what counts!!

What we eat: IAMS puppy food, 1-24 months and of course either Beneful, Fromm or Pedigree Vitality + for our larger doggies which is also a constant need here at the rescue! Thank you again so much for those who have donated bags of food lately, your help is not only needed but certainly much appreciated. I hope you did get quite a few kisses from our pooches at the farm and if you didn’t, come and get them when you next pop in! Our doggies definitely LOVE giving hugs and kisses!! So do most of the volunteers although they won’t admit it Hee! Hee!

Navan Fair Parade

It was great again this year, we brought 5 of Nyleina’s puppies, they walked with Tessa, Genevieve, Cassie, Adam and Shaen. Bella who actually was so excited she just talked the whole way walked with Kim but then, in the middle of the walk, under the shade of a tree, she decides to plop right down and no longer cares to continue the walk Ha! Ha!. I had to push her bum for her to get up and going again – too funny this girl! Karlie walked with Sophie , Casey with Jasmine, Tila with Sabrina (Casey and Tila are our mascots so of course were there to steel a few hearts). Ezmyra walked with Caroline, Charlie with Yasmin and Chikita was my little walker – Michelle. Jody was our camera lady and holding a “Good Home Wanted” sign and Sarah drove the blinged up SUV – oh and can’t forget Scooby Doo who was on top of the SUV checking everything out Ha! Ha!.

All this while Dave, Christiane, Andree and Joanne stayed behind to take care of the doggies that we left at NARC, making sure they had their breakfast, water, walks, cleaning crates, etc… Pictures are posted so have a look!

Vet’s on Saturday

Brought Maggie for her follow-up exam after surgery and re-bandaging. Took pictures of her tail, will post them shortly! Also had Ezmyra, Piper, Minnalousche with me. Minnalousche has gained 3.08 pounds but we found out why she wasn’t gaining much more, we had another poop sample done that showed hookworms so we bought some medications for her for that. Ezmyra has gaines almost 5 pounds so she is doing well and gaining properly.

Would be nice if we could have a weighing machine for dogs at NARC, would save us some trouble of always having to load up doggies and bringing them to the vet’s for their weight. We always need to see if they are gaining properly, especially those that come in emmaciated (skinny) and of course puppies are important to weight regularly for our dewormers. Let’s try to raise funds for this equipment, will find out how much one will be and post the amount we need soon!

Funds are always needed for sugeries, shots, vetting, medications, etc…. If you can help, please either send your donations to NARC, 4388 Navan Road, Navan, Ontario, K4B 1H9 or you may bring money directly to our veterinarian, Blackburn Animal Hospital, 110 Bearbrook, Unit 5. Thank you so much for your support!

Vet’s this week – quite busy!

Monday we brought Biggie to the vet’s as the flies went at it with his ear, one had a little mark but the other had a bigger spot picked at, he is fine although was given a skin antibiotic and of course am keeping up with the polysporin to help out. He is better today and it is healing slowly! Thursday, we dropped off Maggie for her tail to be docked, she had quite a big mass on her tail which may have been cancerous so it was decided to dock the tail. She is recovering now and back tomorrow at the vet’s to remove her bandages and re-bandage! And, Friday was a busy day, we brought all the puppies for their first DA2PP’s shots and check-ups, 4 pups were able to get rabies as they are of proper age. So, 12 puppies loaded at home, un-loaded and loaded again at the vet’s, then un-loaded at home… Vet checked, and shots – quite the day at the vet’s and yes, it took most of the day, two trips of course, first trip with the 8 new puppies and second trip with the 4 Akita’s and Koby! Koby had eye surgery over a month ago and lately one eye has been bothering him so we brought him for another follow-up. The vet didn’t seem to find anything with they dye test but thought maybe it is the upper lid bugging him. So, we have to go ahead with another surgery on Koby this week! Tomorrow, Maggie is due back at the vet’s for her bandage change and we are bringing Piper, Minnalousche and Ezmyra for check-ups, can’t wait to see how many pounds Ezmyra and Minnalousche gained – they were so skinny when they arrived but now looking better.

Funds are always needed for sugeries, shots, vetting. If you can help, please either send your donations to NARC, 4388 Navan Road, Navan, Ontario, K4B 1H9 or you may bring money directly to our veterinarian, Blackburn Animal Hospital, 110 Bearbrook, Unit 5. Thank you so much for your support!
