The 5 English Mastiff x Labrador now have the run of the bathroom, are good at going onto the paper for their business and eating/drinking by themselves. We have them on the Medical Developmental Formula (large breed) from a veterinarian if anyone wanted to donate a bag of food for them. They are growing and getting stronger every day and “OH SO CUTE!” We had tried Blue canned and Performatrin canned but it just was upsetting their tummies so changed them to the medical developmental formula which has them pooping solid and doing so much better. They will be getting their DA2PP and vet check on Sept 9th and will take them out from noon to 12:30pm on Sept 14th & again Sept 21st to show them off if anyone wishes to see them. We will do this before NARC clients so they aren’t seen by too many strangers at once and only for a short 1/2 hour as they are not liking the outdoors as much as their large warm bathroom Ha! Ha! So, if you wish to adopt one of these bottle fed babes, Sept 14th or 21st are the weekends to come and pick your pup, they will be ready for adoption on Sept 23rd. Join us on facebook to see pictures and videos of our NARC puppies and other dogs for adoption, our volunteers are doing an exceptional job on the facebook page!!! Has to be seen.

Vet’s today

I dropped off Nyleina, Tyson and Foxy at the vet’s last night – will update you on how surgeries went soon. Nyleina and Tyson were for regular spay/neuter, rabies & DA2PP but Foxy needs dental cleaning and probably a few extractions, one of her canines is broken really low, will see if this one has to be removed too. All three of these beautiful dogs will certainly find homes either this weekend or the following weekend – they certainly won’t be at NARC long – too nice and friendly! Nyleina is such a sweet girl, big goof ball but just the way I like them Ha! Ha! Ha!

Come visit on weekends, we are opened saturday and sunday from 1pm and 3pm and don’t forget to pass our pledge form to friends and family – pledge your walk at the NARC’s 5th Annual Walkathon on September 22nd. PledgeForm2013

Amazing long weekend!

Never long enough but we’ve managed to build one pergola in between two back dog runs, providing shade to 3 dog runs altogether! The first dog run, the dog house was re-nipped with a carport style attached so this also provides a shaded area for this run! The garbage container is complete and looking amazing, we washed all the garbage cans before putting them in our new container! No more garbage right besides the door, now to work on finishing the deck! Also new stairs were built for the storage trailer, most of the holes the dogs dug have been filled and the runs weeded! Everyone has been hauling either wood, gravel, lifting, pushing the barrels, working hard and such a great team and great team spirit. I tell you, NARC doggies are quite spoiled to have such dedicated volunteers! Not only did we work very hard but all doggies got many walks, puppies got a good bath before vetting on saturday and they all ate like little piglets all weekend! Had their fresh raw egg on Saturday, as every week and treats as much as they could digest Ha! Ha! Ha! Now to the vet’s tonight with Nyleina, Tyson and Foxy!

Great weekend, lots done!

Saturday while I brought the 4 Nyleina pups and 3 Bathilda pups to the vet’s for their second DA2PP and Nyleina puppies also had their rabies, poop sample and all had check ups, few volunteers worked on the new large garbage bin. Today, they came to finish the bin and it looks amazing, I took pictures and will post them soon. Also have a few volunteers that came and build another pergola in the back dog runs for shade for our doggies, things are moving along great and we are so proud! I washed all the garbage pales before installing them in the new wood garbage area, I can fit 4 nice big garbage pales into each section so that is wonderful! One area we kept for recycling, will be nice to not have wed cardboard boxes to bring to the road lol. Thank you so much everyone for pitching in with projects at the farm, there are always things to do or build but we are slowly getting to where we want NARC to eventually be!

5 bottle fed puppies are growing

They will already be 5 weeks on Monday and are growing, looking just too adorable and funny to be around. They will be such nice and loving dogs, they are always all over me for kisses and climbing on my lap for some cuddles. They even wait their turn to be bottle fed, sitting besides me, head on my lap and looking to see when the bottle comes to them – so adorable! Still wish I could stay home with them, for sure, they are so funny and fun to be with – they are playing now, dragging teddy bears around the bathroom, still walking a bit funny but now trying to run at times or jump up on my lap instead of crawling as before – such big changes in such a short time! They will be ready for their loving homes on September 23rd, at 8 weeks of age! But you will be able to see or meet them on the weekend of Sept 14th after they receive their first DA2PP shot and vet check.

Vet’s last night

So we picked up the 5 puppies at the pound, they aren’t labs as the pound said, they are black mouth cur mixed maybe rottie. 4 females, 1 male, 3 look exactly like the black mouth cur and 2 are all black with brown markings. I am sure the volunteers already posted pictures on our facebook if you want to have a look, find NARC or Michelle Mayer and you will see them on facebook. We brought them immediately to the vet’s for their first DA2PP and check-up, will deworm them tonight and already gave them their first multi-advantage last night. Although not sure what the vet papers say as they didn’t have “black mouth cur” in their system, probably says Rottie mixed. Koby had his stitches removed, he was such a good boy, stayed still which I am sure is very hard when you have tools coming right for your eye to remove stitches there… Such a good dog and listens so well! And Harley, our pug mixed japanese chin got his Rabies and DA2PP so is now up for adoption. He reminds me so much of Wilma, same look and face as hers with the wiry mustache, just too cute. He doesn’t seem to like his face and head touched much, wouldn’t let the vet check his teeth but already trusts me so I opened him mouth so our vet could have a look inside! We also bathed all the new puppies last night as they were stinky so now they are clean and starting their new life with us until they find their homes – which I think will be quick as they are too cute and adorable! Koby decided to get out of his run late last night and although did go for a run on the front of the property, came back when I walked to the truck, keys in hand. He really loves car rides so jumps right in although I didn’t take him for a ride again, brought him inside and gave him treats for being such a good boy and returning by my side instead of bolting! Was hard to see him, he is black and it was quite dark so was worried there for a bit, until he ran to the truck!! Now we know the trick to getting him back, just open a car door Ha! Ha! Ha!

Vet’s last night & update

Well, cost us an arm and a leg… Bathilda had a hernia to remove, spay, rabies, DA2PP & vet check. Rex was the lucky one with only his neuter, rabies, DA2PP & vet check. Lois was the worst, 2 lumps removed, dental cleaning with 4 extractions, spay, rabies, DA2PP & vet check. Poor Lois, she was looking good though but must hurt! Going with Koby tonight to remove his stitches, Harley for his Rabies, DA2PP and vet check and we should be receiving 5 black labrador puppies this afternoon, just weaned and eating so will see if the vet can take us to give them their first DA2PP tonight!! Better safe than sorry, pounds/SPCA’s/Humane Societies do carry parvo and we don’t want that coming into NARC so the sooner we can get them inoculated – the better!!
