About NARC

The NARC Family

NARC is a Not-for-profit Charitable Organization with a growing family over the years.  Our family is now averaging approximately 20 regular volunteers.

There are three of us on the Board of Directors whom share duties in ensuring this organization strives and succeeds.  Luckily for us, the members of the Board are very skilled in many areas which enables us in:

  • organizing events,
  • finance skills,
  • writing skills, (for our web site, handbooks…),
  • care for human resources/hiring of volunteers,
  • advertising,
  • care for the pets,
  • training dogs/animals before they are re-homed,
  • meet by-laws policy and procedures,
  • make veterinary appointments,
  • veterinary assistant,
  • etc,

We are always looking for volunteers to help us in achieving or surpassing our goals.

You are important to us as we need all the help we can get!

petfinder.com will give you a list of cat/kitten rescues in the areas such as Village Kitten Rescue, J’s Rescue, Cat Rescue Network, Vanier Street Cats and so many others who only take in cats. Every rescue specializes in a certain field, we are a dog and small critter rescues while others only do cats such as the above mentioned. We do not have foster homes or the resources to take in cats such as they would have which is why we don’t take them in! At times, we will have kittens or cats posted to help people re-home them if they are willing to foster for us until we find the little guys homes. Thank you.

  2. Manon says:

I don’t know why it’s called Animal Rescue, when they don’t accept small kittens? There is no Pet rescue in Rockland, On. Everyone seem to care but no one wants them either. I am out of ressources and I don’t want the city of Rockland to take them to have euthanized. Can you give me some places wheres they will accept the 4 kittens. Thank you

  3. mmayer3 says:

We do not take dogs surrendered from people or releases as we call them. We only take death row dogs from pounds and such but yes, the pounds do check for tags and such and hold for 72 hours prior to releasing them to rescues.

  4. Michael says:

    Hello

I am interested to know why you do not check dogs surrendered to you for microchip or tatoo markings? These are meant to return dogs to the rightful owner. You had a dog in your facility that was tatooed and the Canadian Kennel Club had the information of the breeder of this animal who would have taken the dog back. This is why the Canadian Kennel Club requires purebred dogs to be identified.

  5. Jackie says:

I saw that you are looking for fosters to volunteer. I am interested in helping with this if I can. Let me know if you still need help and how I can apply.

    Thank you

  6. mmayer3 says:

We will be taking on volunteers come April when we re-open the building, you have to be 18 years or older. Right now what we are looking for are foster homes, since we are closing the building for the winter we will need foster homes for the doggies we take in during those months. If anyone is interested, please contact us! Thank you.

  7. Chloe says:

Do u take volunters and if yes what is the age requirement.

  8. Daniel says:

My wife and I have a 9 year old black lab named Ridge. We love him so much, but just had a daughter a few months ago. Our daughter also loves Ridge, but he does not like her at all. Our daughter is beginning to crawl and often heads straight for his bed. We know it’s just a matter of time before he bites her and need to find him a new home.

The problem with Ridge is that he is very affectionate but will occasionally snap at the person touching him. He is food and kennel aggressive. He does not like other dogs, and has not been neutered.

Ridge loves the water. Is still very energetic and loves to retrieve anything. He listens well and is really a great dog.

We live in Toronto but are willing to drive anywhere to find him the right home. We don’t want to give him to a shelter because he will be put down immediately due to his aggressive nature. Or friends and family won’t take him either.

If you can help us please let me know.

  9. mmayer3 says:

We are opened sat and sun between 1pm and 3pm but do have a donations drop box at the front of the property so you can drop them off at any time. Thank you for thinking of us!

  10. Catherine berndt says:

  11. Al says:

  12. mmayer3 says:

She is in a foster home at this time, gaining the much needed weight. We will find out end of April if they are keeping her. Thank you.

  13. mmayer3 says:

Unfortunately at this time we are only taking volunteers who are 18 years of age or older. Thank you.

We have a terrier cross that unfortunately we have to get rehomed. We got him from a rescue center in Cavan (Paws a while I think) about 2 years ago and he was still only a tiny pup. he was meant to be a companion and friend to our son but regrettably my son has developed allergies to the dog hair. Lou is a much loved pet and we have always cherish him so we would love for him to go to a good home with a caring family.

  17. luc girard says:

We have a family that has decided to give him a try. If it don’t work out I will be in touch. Thanks for your help. I will keep you posted.

  20. mmayer3 says:

We are closed until January 10th, if you can keep your dog throughout the holidays, we may be able to help you once we re-open! We weren’t able to e-mail you directly as you haven’t provided the details. Thank you.

  21. luc girard says:

We rescued a 10 week old jack russell mix from his death bed a year and a half ago. Mom was a jack and dad is unknown. We nursed him back to health. But unfortunately due to current circumstances I am unable to keep him. I do feel due to his rough start of life it has left him with a few issues. He suffers with separation anxiety. When left alone and uncrated, he does chew things He was never socialized with other dogs other then our own 2 dogs and cat. He has no issues with them. Does bark excessively at strangers and other dogs that he don’t know but eventually warms up to them. Loves to run free outside and to play Frisbee and ball. He is a big suck and has to be on us at all time. I do believe he needs a home that will work with him to change his behaviours. A family that will be home with him. We need to re home him ASAP..can you help us.

  22. mmayer3 says:

I don’t think Delihla will be with us over the holidays, a few clients are interested in adopting her we are just finalizing references before she leaves us with her new home! Thank you for offering though!

    Thank you

  24. mmayer3 says:

Our adoption fees vary, regular dogs and breeds are $460, larger dogs can be up to $600 and toy breeds $600. Vet costs are more expensive on larger breeds so we had to compensate with a higher adoption fee to help cover our costs. Thanks.

  25. Chelsea says:

    What’s your adoption fee?

  26. mmayer3 says:

Please see the dog’s profile for more details. Thank you.

  27. Marie-Julie says:

  35. Cindy Boisvenue says:

Hi Michelle…7 years ago I adopted an English Bulldog named Scarlet. We kept the name as it suited her big time, as she was a diva. We trained her and she was a wonderful, loveable pet. In May 2014 Scarlet(0ver night) could not walk or manoeuver with out assistance. I had promised Scarlet I would never let her suffer as she had suffered at the puppy mill, so therefore on June the 2nd 1 day before my birthday we put Scarlet down. We did it with dignity and honour as she was very special to us. We had her cremated and she again home with Marcel and I….we loved her so much <3<3<3
