Fostering

Fostering – click on this link for our  FosterContract

We are seeking a few foster homes for our dogs and puppies until they find their fur-ever homesa!  It is a great way to get to know our dogs and possibly become a “foster failure” as we call our foster adoptive clients.  Call us if you can take in one of our dogs today!

Fostering means taking a needy animal into your home for a specific amount of time. Generally, we look for a minimum 2-4 week commitment, sometimes more depending upon the needs of the animal as well as other circumstances. During those weeks, we are actively seeking a permanent home for your foster animal, if they are ready for adoption. This includes running advertisements, website updates and networking. Foster families need to work with Navan Animal Rescue Corporation to help us more thoroughly evaluate the animal in their care (i.e. good with children? Afraid of cats?) and be available with a reasonable lead time to show the animals if we have a potential adopter.

Foster animals come with enough food to last the duration of the foster period, a litter box or kennel, and a list of emergency numbers should you experience any health issue with our animal. Veterinary costs have to be approved by an authorized member of Navan Animal Rescue Corporation and we have excellent access to veterinarians after hours.

It is not the responsibility of the foster home to adopt NARC’s foster pet. Screening processes are in place and are done by a trained Navan Animal Rescue Corporation member. Of course, you may promote the animal within your care and we encourage you to speak about your foster animal to friends and family, but the final decision and responsibility rests with us.  Our foster homes are pre-approved, that being said, if you decide to adopt your foster dog – you are more than welcomed to do so!

    Hi there,

I’ve never fostered before but I’m interested in trying. My boyfriend and I live in a 3 bedroom townhouse with a small fenced in yard. Behind our backyard is a large forest with a creek and many trails. We both work an 8 to 4 job but we are very active when we get home. We have the patience to train and a lot of love to give. We also have 3 birds that aren’t normally in their cages when we’re home. They are the only other pets we have. I cannot foster cats as I am very allergic. Would fostering be a possibility for us? We are interested in larger breed dogs if available.

    Thanks
    Steph

Hi, I was just reading my original contact with you on September 7, 2013. I am still interested in fostering, more so now, that I’ve had a little time to grieve for my dog. I live in a townhouse, I have a small unfenced back yard with a long leash. I am currently not working, so the dog would be spoiled with leashed walks and attention. My only disadvantage is that I do not drive. I would love to hear back from someone as I have a lot of love and attention to give.

I lost my dog to old age this summer, and although I am not ready to have my own pet just yet, I miss having an animal in my life. I am not working right now, and have the time and compasion to give to an animal in need. Please send me an application for fostering.

I was wondering about Whicker. I had seen an ad on Kijiji a few days ago, but when I emailed to find out if I could have him they had already taken him back to your shelter. I would really like to have him, but I am wondering how much it is to take him from you. I don’t have a lot of money to spend for sure, but I do have a lot of love to give an older boy. Please let me know if he is still there. Thanks Jenn

Hi, I was wondering about fostering Whicker. I have 2 little Poodles and 1 has special needs. I was wondering if he is good with other small dogs. I do know he needs drops in his eyes. That is something that I will be fine with doing daily. My poodle needs special care and taking on another special needs dog will be something that I am interested in doing. Please e-mail me with info.
    Thanks, Jenifer

We are interesting in fostering a small dog, puppy or one needing medical attention. We are the proud owners of 2 giant newfoudlands Finnegan 2 1/2 and Barnaby a landseer just turned 2. Both dogs are very healthy. They would welcome a temporary addition to the home. I’m recently retired and home all day.

In October I would like to become a foster parent for dogs. I am 55 years old and love dogs. The dogs can be old or young needy or not. My home is small and there is a huge dog park just across the street. I am away for most of the summer and going on holidays the first week of October. I will be available after 0ctober 10th, 2012.
