Puppy food needed!

We are in need of IAMS for Puppies, puppy food for our little poopers that are eating like crazy and growing daily. We have quite a few puppies to feed before they find their loving homes and being fed 3-4 times daily, the bags are emptied quickly! We are opened saturday and sunday between 1pm and 3pm if you wish to drop off any donations or visit our little poopers… But, we also have a donations drop box at the front of the property for those who can’t visit weekends! Thank you to everyone who is supporting our wonderful organization, your help is not only appreciated but much needed. Sending you hugs and kisses from our poopers and adult pooches that are temporarily living at NARC. Below is a nice poem, something nice to read…

For the Rescuers

Once I was a lonely dog, just looking for a home.
I had no place to go, no one to call my own.
I wandered up and down the streets, in rain in heat and snow.
I ate whatever I could find, I was always on the go.

My skin would itch, my feet were sore, my body ached with pain.
And no one stopped to give a pat or gently say my name.
I never saw a loving glance, I was always on the run.
For people thought that hurting me was really lots of fun.

And then one day I heard a voice so gentle, kind and sweet,
and arms so soft reached down to me and took me off my feet.“
No one again will hurt you,” was whispered in my ear.
“You’ll have a home to call your own where you will know no fear.“

You will be dry, you will be warm, you’ll have enough to eat.
And rest assured that when you sleep, your dreams will all be sweet.”
I was afraid I must admit, I’ve lived so long in fear.
I can’t remember when I let a human come so near.

And as she tended to my wounds and bathed and brushed my fur,
she told me about the rescue group and what it meant to her.
She said, “We are a circle, a line that never ends.
And in the centre there is you, protected by new friends.“

And all around you are the ones that check the pounds,
and those that share their home after you’ve been found.“
And all the other folk are searching near and far
to find the perfect home for you, where you can be a star.”

She said, “There is a family, that’s waiting patiently,
and pretty soon we’ll find them, just you wait and see.“
And then they’ll join our circle they’ll help to make it grow,
so there’ll be room for more like you, who have no place to go.”

I waited very patiently, the days they came and went.
Today’s the day I thought, my family will be sent.
Then just when I began to think it wasn’t meant to be,
there were people standing there just gazing down at me.

I knew them in a heart beat, I could tell they felt it too.
They said, “We have been waiting for a special dog like you.”
Now every night I say a prayer to all the gods that be.
“Thank you for the life I live and all you’ve given me.“

But most of all protect the dogs in the pound and on the street.
And send a Rescue Person to lift them off their feet.”

Vet’s on Saturday

Went to the vet’s on Saturday for Dakota’s dew claw and spay surgery follow up, she no longer has to have her bandages but we have cream to put on her surgeries twice daily. Also brought Myka, Bella, Karlie and Superman for their annual check-up and shots. They now all have their Rabies, DA2PP and have been given thumbs up by our vet. They said Bella was really sweet, she never moved during her check-up or shots, was quite sweet and didn’t complain one bit. Myka was a bit stressed but did a very good job and didn’t mind her shots at all. The vet shaved her front leg to check a hot spot she had, seems fine and will heal with some cream. Muka is funny, loves our dog runs and won’t complain a bit but if you tie her out anywhere else, she complains or if you crate her during the day when you are out and she wants to be out with you, she may complain again – very sweet girl though who just loves attention and cuddles.

We’ve added quite a few fly traps, if you have some for us don’t feel shy in bringing them – they love to bite (throw acid actually) our dogs ears and it is quite a pain in the rear for them having flies all over their ears and is bugging them. We’ve captured thousands already – I’m sure – but always have more coming, it is a farm!! At one point Cyan’s both ears were bleeding from the bites so we had to keep him in for a few days on short walks only for both of his ears to heal with polysporin. Now it’s Biggie’s one ear that we are curing! Hate the fly season, they are worst than the moskitos!!! Any tricks or ideas to help our doggies – please say so!!!

Vet’s tonight

I picked up Dakota, she had her spay but also had her dew claws removed so has bandages on her hind legs for a few days. She was quite sleepy when I arrived and looked tired, she was very quiet last night when we got home but did eat, pee and poo before going to bed which is a good sign. Aslo picked up Casper, he went for his neuter and rabies and seemed in very good shape when I got him. He was quite the pig and ate his whole bowl in 2 seconds flat…

I dropped off Nikita and Poupoune for their spays, will pick them up tonight and they will return with their families for recovery!

Lois and Superman

Yep, we’ve named the two little bishon’s that were tied to my tractor Lois and Superman. They are adorable but were quite matted and their nails were over an inch long so I’ve groomed them and took care of the excessively long nails right away! They are not afraid of humans but also not responding to words per say but we are working with them and they are house clean and sweet so it won’t take time that they will come when called and such… Once the hold is over, we will get them the much needed dental cleaning next week and post them for adoption afterwards. So far, no one has come forward to let us know where they came from!! So we won’t have any background information other than what we do at NARC for them!

If ever you wish to foster for NARC, it would be nice if a few of our long term rescues, most medium and larger sized doggies could go into a loving home while they are patiently awaiting their forever homes. Let us know if you wish to take one of our kids home with you, they are trained, lovable and listen very well to commands, spayed/neutered, updated on shots, dewormed, multi-advantage, vetted, etc… We are opened sat and sun between 1pm and 3pm so feel free to come and visit the farm and our doggies!

Unbelievable!

I was at home but for some reason it was too hard to knock at my door… Two small bishon’s were left tied to the tractor outside, in this weather, raining like crazy, thundering, no shelter, etc… Why, why, why!? I understand if you no longer wish to care for your dog but at least come and get one of us to bring the doggies in. Luckily for the pooches, I heard the car drive in and then leave… I didn’t make anything of it until I heard a bark which made me go out to see what was going on – obviously all our doggies are inside so my senses were wondering how come I was hearing a bark outside my front door!?… just to find these two little guys, very happy to see me… They are fortunately safe inside with the others in hopes that someone, even if it is anonymously, writes to us and let’s us know a little about them, age, etc… would be nice!

Vets tonight

So, monday all the puppies including Sabélie and Coco had their check-ups and shots and we dropped off our cutie Seena at the vet’s last night for her spay today. She did fine although has a cone head being that she is trying to lick herself but otherwise did well. Vet said she was quite young, figure between 10 months old to a year! She will certainly go pretty fast, she is too sweet and cute!

New arrivals

Kim went to pick up 4 puppies at the pound on Saturday, 1 golden (female) and 3 black (2 males, 1 female) – labradoodles. They are going to the vet’s tonight for their 1st DA2PP and check-up, will be dewormed and given multi-advantage. Ready this weekend for adoption! They surely will go fast… The volunteers got together and gave them a much needed bath, they are too adorable and have been over manipulated and loved all weekend! Coco the Daschund mixed Yorkie with merle colors is also going tonight for her updated shots and we are dropping off Sina our little papillon mixed tomorrow for her spay on wednesday – it will be a busy week at the vet’s!

We are in need of Javex, IAMS for puppies and of course Beneful or Pedigree Vitality + for our bigger doggies. If you wish to make a donation, you can always leave money on our account at Blackburn Animal Hospital, drop off any items or money/cheques at the rescue, 4388 Navan Road or call to see if we have a volunteer available to pick up your donations! Thank you so much to everyone donating, without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today!!! Our pooches send you big hugs and kisses…

Nice weekend

Although friday sucked and the dogs were stuck outside pretty much all day, it finally wasn’t raining during the evening so they went out to get dirty and muddy for a few hours. Yesterday was nice though so we washed all the dog houses as they were splashed with mud from all the rain we’ve had lately. Also started mowing the lawn and will hopefully finish that today! And of course gave some muddy doggies a good bath – Snoopy was no longer white until his rub a tub tub…
