Quite the weekend!

We worked very hard this weekend, all volunteers came and helped which was great – thank you all for your support and hard work! We filled the large bin full of tree branches – winter was tough and the pines had a good beating so we needed a bin to get rid of the large branches that fell down. The girls planted flowers here and there, others cleaned the gardens that already exist. We also started installing the car port which we will be using as a shady area for clients, it’s half installed – hoping to finish it this week! One of the volunteers parents was getting rid of a few bushes so they brought them and we replanted them all over the property. It will look good for clients in a few months when they flower! So, great weekend, never enough hours in a day – so much more to do!!! Thanks again everyone for your hard work and dedication, hopefully all your muscles aren’t as much in pain as mine are this morning lol.

New doggies arrived

Yesterday we picked up 3 dogs from a pound, a gorgeous Husky, a nice big Malamute and a very sweet Chow Chow mixed. We will get them all vetted, neutered/spayed soon and ready for adoption. They were all found as stray so no background information other than what we will learn from them at NARC.. We also took in a 5 year old Daschund the day before, he is very sweet and being a release, we have information on this doggy! He is affectionate, came from the same home since he was a puppy and loves to cuddle under the blankets with his family! As any daschund, he is shy at first but once he knows you he will show you how much he loves you. We rarely take releases but will make the odd exception depending on the circumstances… in this case, his family didn’t want to bring him to the Humane Society so understandably, we opened our home to him!

The garbage bin has arrived so we will be able to get rid of some items that are too bulky to place at the road this weekend! It will be another hard working weekend at NARC…

Vet’s last night

All went well with surgeries at the vet’s last night, Nieva was a bit tired and Blue groggy but otherwise, they were both content to come home. Had to lift Nieva to get her in the truck, I prefer they don’t try to jump up in the truck shortly after surgery! We took a little walk around the property when we got home, before she went back inside to her crate for a good night’s sleep! No play dates for her this week, she needs to heal properly for her new home on Sunday!

Last night, we also went and got the rest of the greenhouse so everything is at the farm now, soon ready to be put up! Can’t wait to see the end product. We now need to buy the heavy duty plastic or a nice long & strong tarp for it. Bit by bit, our projects are coming together! Thank you to everyone that helped on Sunday and last night, it was a tough job loading all the peices, dismantling peices that weren’t done and getting it all back home but we managed – thanks again everyone for your hard work with all the projects I keep throwing your way Ha! Ha!

Always a special THANK YOU to clients, friends, volunteers, family members, etc… for all your donations, money for the vet, food, javex, cleaning products, paper towels and so much more! Some clients come with treats and hand them to the doggies while they visit, some come to walk our pooches and give them more loving. What you do for NARC is amazing and… what goes around comes around, you will find that amazing things will happen in your life! The animals at the farm are sending you big hugs and kisses for everything that you do or have done for them!

Vet’s today

We dropped off Blue for his neuter and Nieva for her spay and shots. Will pick them up after work tomorrow.

It was a good weekend again, picked up the greenhouse in hopes of getting it installed soon. Have to find a few parts so that the bottom posts go into and we can drill them in the cement, making it sturdy. This weekend coming up, we will put the dog houses back in place such as last year and have our pooches out all day on weekends with us to bask in the sun and play with visitors! It was such a nice weekend that the pooches spent it outside all day with us and were so happy!

Things needed

We are looking for cement blocks, pressure treated wood (4×4’s, 8×8’s, 2×4’s 2×8’s, 2×6’s etc… any length). We are working on a few projects including building new dog houses, a new deck with stairs for the NARC mobile home, etc… Needing shingles for the top of our dog houses and other projects at NARC. Plywood, small to large peices, we are using pretty much anything anyone brings us… We can even use logs for posts, any length! What we don’t need for renovations will be cut up for the wood stove and keeping our doggies warm during winter months!

Inside, we always need Javex, Rubber Gloves, Paper Towels and we could use a few more face cloths. We don’t mind your opened bags of dog food or treats, leashes or collars – we use and abuse collars and leashes – that’s for sure!

If anyone has spare time and want to lend a hand with renovations – you are always more than welcomed to join our NARC family! We are getting the greenhouse soon and will need to install that and so much more. Any help we can get, always making NARC bigger and better is always a bonus! Thank you to those who are always there to support us in our endeavors, you are AMAZING, sending you hugs and kisses from everyone here at NARC – doggies included Hee! Hee!

Update at the farm

After his neuter, Simba got sick with the flu…poor baby, luckily for him we got some metrodonizale and started him on medications right away! He is feeling much better and ate a very good meal today and drank plenty of water which is keeping him well hydrated.

Ladybug is also doing so much better, I guess that means that we will be placing her on the available side this week… Sad to actually do this, she has stolen all of our hearts, especially mine!!

The NARC family did a great job with clean-up this weekend, after winter the farm is always a mess and muddy! With snow melted we were now able to move donations to appropriate locations or at least against the mobile home so that they weren’t all over the place (dog houses…)! We have raked, tomorrow the back-hoe is coming to smooth down the tire marks and spread the gravel so that it is less muddy! We aren’t finished yet but it was definitely a very good start, thanks everyone for your hard work!

Hopefully we get the greenhouse this week, we cleared out the slab for installation and are ready to get that up and running very soon. I borrowed a trailer so finally have a way of getting it here. Now to find helping hands hopefully next weekend to help me load, bring it here and un-load! Then will come installation…

Vetting this week

All the new puppies got their first DA2PP and check-ups, Camry got her Rabies. Simba got his neuter, rabies and DA2PP, he is doing very well but Ladybug really had a hard time. When I went to pick her and Simba up, she wasn’t getting up at all, even after more IV liquids, I had to pick her up and carry her in the car. Poor baby, she has already been through so much, her temperature had dropped during surgery so we need to keep her warm tonight so everything gets back to normal. She was happy to be back home, ate a few hot dogs and went straight to bed, in the little baby bed in the entrance and I left her there cuddled in blankets for the night. The young black labs all have kennel cough and some sniffles so are on antibiotics which mean they won’t be leaving us until their prescription is done and they are feeling better!

I know it’s been a while…

Not much major vetting in the last few weeks, just follow ups and regular maintenance except for stritches for Phoebe on Thursday!!! But, things are getting busy again… New doggies have come in late last week. Mom lab with her 5 puppies, one golden lab and one black lab puppy – already have pictures uploaded under available or available soon if you wish to see the new guys! Tomorrow is vet night for a follow up with Diamond from her surgery a few weeks ago and our 8 puppies for shots and check-ups. Also am dropping off Ladybug and probably Biggie for their spay and neuters… Will have a truck full that’s for sure! Will keep you posted on how they are doing!

Vet’s last night

I picked up Mila last night, poor baby – both her hind legs were wrapped due to her dew claws removed and she didn’t want to walk so I carried her to the car and once home we carried her inside. She is booked on Thursday for a follow up with the vet to see how her incisions are doing and until then, has an antibiotic and pain killers.

Only one puppy from Brooklyn’s litter left, male and only one German Sheppard female puppy left. Other than Cyan and Nooky whom are still with us awaiting their forever homes…

Vet’s last night

Koby went back for his follow up for his eye surgery, all went well, we are to continue with his drops and the vet gave him an antibiotic injection to help with the healing. We left Mila for her spay and back leg dew claws to be removed, will pick her up tonight for her recovery period. Everyone else at NARC is doing very well, Ladybug is eating like a pig so we’ve re-named her as a joke LadyPig! She can gobble down a whole pack of hot dogs, frozen or not in a few minutes and eats two very large bowls of the Medi-Cal Intestinal without problems. She is gaining weight, is more active, loves to go for walks and of course snuggle with us on the little bed we have in the entrance – she is a doll, someone will be very lucky when she is ready for adoption. Another few weeks of fattening her up and then we will get her spayed with shots.
