Vet’s last night

I brought Malini’s 5 puppies for their first DA2PP and vet check, of course they pooped in the car on the way there so were quite stinky for our vet visit – jeez, can’t keep them clean for 1 hour Ha! Ha! Ha!  Vet said they are all healthy and strong, ready for their loving homes now!  They are eating and drinking very well, we’ve had them since October 21st – so 5 weeks at NARC and they were approximately 2 weeks when we got them so ready for adoption – YIPEE for the puppies!!!

Lucifer also came for his 3rd DA2PP and Rabies, he remains at the vet’s for his neuter today, will pick him up tonight after his surgery poor baby!

Aphrodite, yep this is our new mom of 5 new born’s name.  She is doing quite well, she is now looking at everyone that comes to say hello compared to trying to squeeze under something or hide her head in the corner.  She now also comes for her food when we put it down, will stand while we are in the room and walk towards us to come and eat.  Baby steps but she is now trusting me and our morning employee which is great – soon she will trust other people and be a normal doggy!  She does have over a month with us, her puppies are only a week or so old so she has plenty of time to come out of her shell!  Such a sweet girl and you can see from her body language that she is quite happy – even though she hasn’t wagged her tail yet – she has lots of room to walk around, take time off from her puppies if wanted, great spot for our new girl – Aprodite!

Vet’s update & new arrivals

Yoogi and Sita did very well at the vet’s, surgeries went well although Yoogi also had a lump to remove – on top of his neuter!  Yoogi also had fleas when he arrived, gave him a multi-advantage but they saw a flea at the vet’s so they gave him capstar.  Sometimes happens, multi-advantage will kill all fleas but may take up to 4 days so we had to de-flea the whole house again!  If anyone has spare (advantage, multi-advantage or revolution), we always need it all year round so please donate any if you can!

I picked up a mother and new born puppies, 5 little cows or so that is what they look like, all while with black spots, they are tiny but we’ve given them a room where mom can care for them safely and she can also start trusting humans.  She was growly with a few of our volunteers this saturday so I have asked everyone not to go into the nursery and leave her be.  She is slowly coming around with me, although still not coming to me, she doesn’t coward when I go pet her – it’s a start!  She is skinny but eating and drinking plenty so will gain slowly!  Would love to give her a bath but she settled with a hand toweled bath this weekend, it’s a good start!

Pet Expo

We were invited at the Pet Expo to show off a few of our “groomed” rescues, we went today with Karly and Sophie, all dressed up for their “show and tell”.  They were amazing, saw a pig and other animals, said hello to everyone they met, walked nicely on the leash through all the people and doggies around.  They were just so well behaved!  We had fun, walked and talked about NARC to the visitors around the gaming area.  Going back tomorrow with Tammy, she is at TLC Grooming now for a nice groom, will also probably bring Ezmira, need to give her a nice bath tonight and off we go tomorrow for 10:30 am for our next show at the Pet Expo.  It was fun and I am sure Sophie and Karly think the same!   If you are at the Pet Expo tomorrow morning, come say Hi, we will be there for 10:15am till approximately noon!

Vet’s this week

We brought Coco and Elcino at the vet’s for their spay & neuter, all went well although we know Elcino needs to gain quite a few pounds…  We did a poop sample just to see if it was anything to do with parasites although we had given him his multi-advantage on November 2nd and dewormer.  Test came back negative so it was definitely the lack of food in his previous home.  He is gaining daily and soon will be nice and chunky!

Vet’s this week

Brought Pinnochio at the vet’s for his neuter, he was cryptorchid (meaning one of his balls was in his groin area) so basically two surgeries, poor boy.  Otherwise, he had his Rabies, DA2PP and as per his new mommy’s request Bordetella and Microchipped.  Yes, he is already gone to his new home, a foster fell in love and is now called foster failure as we always say lol  Not really as she gave Pinnochio a very good home so we are all happy about that!

Malini arrived this week, she is an Australian Shepherd with 5 puppies, barely 2 weeks old and eyes still closed but she is an amazing mom and great dog.  We gave her a room to herself so that she is not disturbed while nursing and she is doing very well.  Her puppies will go fast in 6 weeks time once they are ready, I can tell right away, they are so cute and if they have half of mom’s personality – they won’t stay long!

Vet’s this week

Hook, our new chocolate lab we picked up from the pound on Sunday, has gone to the vet’s for his neuter on Tuesday, rabies, DA2PP shot and check-up.  He stunk so much when we got him that we immediately gave him a good bath, he was stinking up the place YIKES!  He is quite the handsome fellow and will certainly go quickly, he was also extremely good with our young volunteer in his bath.  He gets excited when he sees other dogs so still pulls on walks as he wants to say hello to them but we are working with him on that.  Otherwise, while coming out of the vet’s and other walks without dogs around, he is perfect, by your side and follows – just gets a bit excited when seeing other doggy companions.

Tonight, we picked up a terrier mixed schnauzer? from the pound, he is very sweet, gave him a good bath and nail trim when we arrived at NARC.  He will be neutered shortly and posted for adoption once done.  We’ve named him Pinnochio – yep, going with disney names for a little while – tons to choose from there!

Vet’s with Tammy

She did well with her surgery on Tuesday, cherry eye surgery and dental cleaning with 1 extraction.  She is on eye drops but is healing quite well.  She was a bit groggy when I picked her up but was happy to see me come and get her!

Vet’s this week!

Brought Gina and Orbid at the vet’s on Wednesday night, they had their spay and neuter on Thursday morning with 2nd DA2PP.  Said to be approx 6-9 months of age being that their adult canines are almost all out!!  Guess that means what you see is what you get, doubt they will get much bigger than they are now.  Weighed in this week at the same weight from 2 weeks ago!

Tonight, I brought Missy, Tammy and Ti-Poux for their rabies, DA2PP and vet check ups.  Ti-Poux definitely needs major dental cleaning and extractions, one side worst than the other so he is booked next week for that.  Tammy also needs cherry eye surgery, on one eye and while we’re at it, we will have a dental cleaning done.  It wasn’t that extreme but why not, she’ll already be under!  She is also booked on Tuesday next week to have that fixed and her dental cleaning with possible extractions.  Vet said Missy is approx 4 years old, Tammy same and Ti-Poux approx 8 years old!

After the vet’s, I spoiled everyone with a nice chunky and meaty dinner…  Added a little canned food to their meals, they surely gobbled it down pretty quicky Ha! Ha! Ha!
