Needs at NARC!

We are again in need of dog food, Pedigree Vitality + or Beneful, we use both mixed together so any of the two!  If you have opened bags that your dog doesn’t like, we will also take those in, doesn’t matter if it is not what we use, we can mix it in the blend!  As for the Beneful, doesn’t matter if it is beef or chicken, we use both and our dogs are used to them both.  Thank you again so much for all your donations over the years, you are AMAZING and our puppies would love to give you kisses and hugs – so will I Ha! Ha! Ha!

Vet’s last night!

I picked up Maggie from her dental cleaning and extractions, poor baby is on pain medications and antibiotics, 8 teeth were pulled!  Joanne followed me to the vet’s as she absolutely wanted to take her back home.  Maggie was so groggy that she kept passing out in Joanne’s arms, like a baby in her arms, with her mouth partially opened – poor baby!  Also had a cat for his neuter and rabies which we also picked up and sent home to Priscille for adoption.  Brought Lucifer and Jenna for their 2nd DA2PP, Jenna was old enough to have her Rabies so we got that done too!  So, Maggie is now available, 5 pounds of tiny doggy which is surely going to be gone soon and will definitely make Jo cry again!!!

So exciting!

The Canada Border Services Agency, Detector Dog Training Program Instructors have just determined that Manoushka would be a good fit for their training program.  She has just left with them in training for 90 days.  If all goes well and she does what they have seen here, search and find (this in the tall grass in our back play run!) she will pass her schooling and become one of their work dogs.  Wish her luck in this program in hopes that she makes it although I have no doubt she will, she is such an excitable dog and always gets her ball from the tall grass in this huge running field we have at the back – GO GO GIRL!  It brought me tears of joy mixed with sadness when she left, yet so exciting!!

Walkathon yesterday!

What a great day, although it was a bit chilly, we had such a nice time together.  We had some baked goods, specialty tea, nice chatting with everyone, clients had their doggies nails clipped, shopped around at kiosks, we then did our field and bush walk and came back to draw prizes and do givaways!  We raised $1,698.00 for NARC – great job everyone and thank you again so much for this year’s support.  Last year we “raised the roof” and got the trusses and metal roof installed with the walkathon money…  This year we are finishing the “raise the roof”, installing soffits, insulating the roof and under the trailer, purchasing the wood stove pipe so we can save hydro costs this winter and heat with wood.  Last year’s hydro bills were just not right so definitely getting wood this year to save costs.  Thank you again so much for helping with our projects to keep our doggies happy and safe!  I know if they could speak – well, you still probably wouldn’t be able to understand as they would be jumping and yelling with joy!  Talking a millions words a minute – yep, may be best with the kisses they give Hee! Hee! Hee!

Vet’s last night & Walkathon

Gina and Orbid, the two new puppies went for their rabies, DA2PP and vet check last night with Rozo who is a Lhasa mixed.  We also picked up Teddy, he is recovering from his neuter and will be available this weekend for adoption.  They are all very good dogs and we are sure they will find homes pretty quickly!  Now, to mow the lawn and get this place ready for Sunday’s walkathon – can’t wait!  Attached is our pledge form for those who decide last minute to join us!  PledgeForm2013

Nice day compared to yesterday!

I was glad it was nice out, was so boring for the doggies to all be stuck inside most of the day yesterday due to the cold weather.  I am glad they had a nice day to bask in the sun, was really warm this afternoon so they enjoyed it.  Still had to take them in a little earlier than usual as it is getting colder at night – and darker very early – sucks!  Bought straw again and put it in all the dog houses, not that anyone has used it today with the beautiful weather we had but at least they have it when and if ever needed.  Well, Cloé went to the vet’s this morning for her check-up, rabies and DA2PP, she is now ready as a toy breed for adoption – such a cute little girl!

Vet’s last night

The vet re-checked Myka’s paw, she had hurt her pad last week and was on an antibiotic pill and cream for it.  He was able to check it better once she was under for her spay and said she was healing well, to finish her antibiotics and she should be fine in a few more days.  She is now spayed and will soon be ready for adoption.  Myka is such a great and lovely girl, she is sweet, loves attention and really a sweet and docile dog.  Moose also got his neuter and was pretty quiet on the way home!

Vet’s last night

Dropped off Myka and Moose for their spay/neuter and brought my 5 beautiful English Mastiff mixed Labrador for their first check-ups and shots.  Vet said they could actually go to their homes this week, usually we keep puppies until they are 8 weeks of age so they can learn from their mothers but being I, a human, is their mommy, they could leave earlier.  They are big, healthy and strong so whomever meets them this weekend may be able to leave with them at 7 weeks of age.  Wow, that will be hard!

Update at the farm

Wasn’t able to update you, we had problems with Bell and had no line the last few days, no line, no internet but finally working this morning.  Last weekend, the volunteers worked hard again and we’ve build another pergola in the back dog run, cleared a spot to build a new dog run on the side, pounded posts for 2 new dog runs in the front and the list goes on.  Tonight, we are dropping off 2 dogs at the vet’s for their spay and neuter and also I am bringing my 5 bottle fed babes (Hercules, Eeor, Jax, Stardom and Lucifer) for their first shots.  They are already 6 weeks, it went quite fast and they are now ready for their loving homes very soon!  Mommy will miss them!
