Vet’s last night

I had to rush to the vet’s last night with Ladybug, the new golden I picked up this week as when I got home, she had a huge bloody liquid poop and was vomitting – I thought it was PARVO and was freaking out! But, she tested negative for Parvo thank god and stayed at the vet’s on IV overnight to help with her dehydration. Today, she has been fine all day at the vet’s, no flu or vomitting so we are going to get her back home tonight. Seems like it was just the change of food, we’ve never seen anything like it so far at NARC, yes they do get the flu for the first few days as we are introducing our food but never all blood so it was quite scary! I am heading out to pick her up now – will update you on her soon! I will start feeding her the Gastro food from the vet’s to help settle her tummy. She is so sweet and it broke my heart to have to carry her in with her blanky…

Vet last night

I went to pick up Taffy and Lucky at the vet’s last night, all went well for their spay/neuter, nothing else was found so they will be ready for adoption this weekend. They were really tired and Lucky absolutely wanted me to carry him to the car, Taffy also was walking very slowly. We went for a short walk when we got home, Taffy did her business right away and I let her loose at home for a bit to eat and drink. She was following me everywhere in slow motion poor little girl. Lucky just wanted to sleep so he went back to his crate for that. It was nice coming home to the rescue and see that volunteers had painted the hallway during the day! Thanks guys – that’s great and brightens up the place! We only have the grooming area and hallway left to tile, then we are done with floors and almost finished painting too! Spring is coming so we will finish the soffits and insulation to the roof and look into other items I would love to see at NARC. I am shopping for inside permanent kennel material that we can attach to walls as I really dislike crates and find them way too awkward, small and not very solid. I am hoping to get some material in the next few weeks to start this new project for the summer! Always looking to making NARC better but “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. With time, donations such as our new beautiful dog houses, this place will look amazing this spring/summer! We started off with a gutted mobile home that now has walls, water, septic, hydro… slowly finishing the ceramic floors – we’ve done pretty well in the last 4 years considering we only had the shell to begin with! All thanks to people such as yourselves, reading this blog and donating your time, items or funds… Thanks again to everyone who supports NARC – not only do we really appreciate it but because of you we save lives every week!

Vet’s & new arrivals

I brought Blue back to the vet’s last night for his final DA2PP shot and Rabies, he got a clean bill of health so his new mommy can pick him up on Tuesday as arranged. I left Lucky and Taffy at the vet’s for their Spay/Neuter, check-up, shots, etc… Will get them tonight and update you on how they are doing.

We also received a Jack Russel Terrier from another rescue, he is so cute and playfull, loves his squeeky toys and yes, already know all of this within one evening of playing with him. He is a big talker, not meaning he barks in the house at all but when playing with the sweeky ball, and me trying to get it from him, he playfully growls yet comes to you for more! Only after one night, I can say that he will go quickly, he is very cute, sweet, loves to cuddle and play! He fit right in with us as if we’ve known him forever! Last night I also met up with a pound and picked up a golden lab, very sweet girl but very stinky so had to have my car windows down for fresh air. Although she was shy with me at first, nothing that a few good treats didn’t fix and after a bit, she was following me everywhere at NARC. It seems it was scary for her to walk into a room with other dogs, she slowly trusted me and came by my side, cuddling and wondering what was going on. This morning, both were very happy to see me, gave them and everyone else, treats and water, cleaned a few crates and off to work I went with all tails wagging cheering my day on! Some are so lucky, will be spending most of their days at NARC while I sit at my desk and work, without kisses, without love, just a computer and keyboard – BORING! Hopefully one day, it will be me staying home with the doggies all day!

Great weekend again!

We are very spoiled to have such wonderful volunteers, cleaning, feeding, walking, loving and always there when we need them! Thank you guys, you are my NARC family and even though all the doggies we have rescued can’t tell you how much they appreciate you, you can see it in the way they give you kisses and love. Lately, we painted another room and today the floor in the grooming area, prepping it for tiling. Wow, does this ever freshen up the place, even if a few of our babies had to put their paw print in the freshly painted floor lol. We have reorganize crates in the puppy room, making it easier to clean and move them around to wash floors underneath. Now, all we need is the material to create inside runs and rid ourselves of crates, giving our pooches nice 4×5 and 4×6 pens. Can’t wait to see it all materialize, have been wishing this since they made us into a “crate” environment instead of what we used to be – pact environment! Think I found the material needed for a very good price of 1,000.00, will go see it this week in hopes that it is strong enough (10 gage +) and if so, we will buy it and start our next step of renovations! Things are surely always looking up and what is needed always seems to be falling in our lap – lucky NARC lol.

New girls have arrived

We got two new girls this weekend, very cute and lovable. They look mixed bull terrier, will post pictures under available soon hopefully today – they are too cute! The puppies are all doing well, getting tons of love and affection, we had a few that had the kennel cough and were on antibiotics but they are feeling better, energetic and playfull so I can finally worry less! Coco is gone in a foster home and same as Marcie, hopefully their fosters love them and keep them – only time will tell! My boy Baldwin is still with us looking for his forever home, he is such a great beast – yep, we call him the beast as he is quite large now that he has gained weight and looks amazing! Quite the sucky boy! We are surprised no one has come forward for Nooky and Cyan, although with all the new puppies, must be hard to select – they are amazing little boys and we are sure their new family will be very impressed!

Dropping off mommy’s at vet’s tonight

Yep, both Brooklyn and Sephora are finally ready for their spays, shots, check-up, etc… so are going at the vet’s tonight, to be spayed tomorrow morning. Send them your best wishes, they are such great dogs! Brooklyn has found her family, our foster home decided they will definitely be keeping her so after this week, she will no longer be a NARC doggy!

We have 11 puppies left, Cyan and Nooky are still with us – very surprised about that as they are such great boys! 3 of Sephora’s puppies are left and 6 of Brooklyn’s! They are all cute and happy dogs, surely love giving kisses! Thinking that by this weekend most will have found their loving homes!

Phasing out the Penny!

The Government announced it would phase out the penny from Canada’s coinage system. Starting February 4th, the Royal Canadian Mint will no longer be distributing pennies. On this date, businesses are now asked to round off to eliminate the penny.

That being said, you will no longer need your pennies and can donate them! NARC will use your pennies to help with our veterinary care, purchasing another bottle of Panacur and our monthly multi-advantage. Please donate today and help our poopers – oops, mean puppies!
