Things needed

If you are able to donate some items, we need rubber gloves, we have none left. We are also out of Wild Oil of Oregano and Coconut Oil which we like using regularly! We always could use more paper towels to help with the cleaning and non glossy paper journal to line the crates with. If you have chains, we could use more when we tie out our doggies for an hour here and there so they can bask in the sun! Small dog houses so we can provide them with shade while they are out on hot days would also be a nice addition to our rescue. We are also always looking for small to large metal crates which would able us to rescue more doggies off of death row.

We also always need canned dog and puppy food, we have Sheenah and Twiggy on 4-5 cans at least 4 times daily, Sheenah can’t eat solid foods yet and both her and Twiggy needs to be fattened up. Sheenah eats her 5 cans, 4-5 times daily and would certainly eat more, she is Dane and certainly eats like a horse Ha! Ha! Tyler is on 2 cans at least 3 times a day to fatten him up and our little Cocotte who can only eat soft food due to her fixed lower broken jaw and all teeth removed eats her whole can daily! Monty is also on canned good while recovering from his patella surgery and to be fattened up, he only eats a small can daily but still a need!

Also, if anyone is quite handy, we still have the main entrance, grooming area and hallway to tile! Have enough plywood, may not have enough tiles for all the rooms but do have plenty for one of the larger rooms. If you wish to come and help with that, let us know in advance and I will get everything out of your way to make it easier and can start ripping out the old flooring in advance! As for the main entrance, which would have to be kept for last and either done during the week or after hours (after 3pm). This way there won’t be so much in and out and for the volunteers that do come, they could come in from the back door for a day or so while the tiles set.

We are also looking for a metal building, hopefully at least 25-30 ft wide by 30-50 foot long if anyone knows of a company that could make us a good price or even better, if we can find a company to donate one that would be priceless. I would then be able to proceed with getting hydro, water, foundation, etc.. connected or built and move NARC further back with tons more space for our doggies!

Thank you so much in advance for your support with our craziness we call our babies, our rescue, our life! We try to spoil them as much as we can and with your support are able to provide them with a safe and clean environment, walks with wonderful volunteers, tie outs to be able to bask in the sun, pools for the water lovers and those wanting to cool down on hot days, love from all of our volunteers and of course, training and kisses from their NARC mommy!

SPCA Pick-up

Only picked up one tog today for a change, a Bouvier des Flandres who is approx 7-8 years old.  He is gorgeous, was really nice in the car ride home, very quiet boy who loves attention and cuddles.

Jeans Day went GREAT!

Thank you to everyone who donated for the jeans day at Publich Safety Canada, one of our volunteers set up a table for NARC today and raised $805.19 for Shanelle’s luxating patella surgery which we will now be able to get done next week.  Thank you so much for your support with this much needed surgery!

Update at vet’s and other dogs

Went to pick up Wyatt and Winston at the vet’s tonight, they were really happy when they saw me and gladly jumped in the truck to get home. Wyatt will be on antibiotics for a week, he has the sniffles and is sneezing so we are trying to avoid infection. Sheenah is very, and I MEAN very happy about finally having regular canned food without it being watered down. She is a pig so if any of you have any canned dog food to donate, our big princess here eats almost a case a day! Can’t wait for her to be able to eat kibbles again and I am sure she is thinking the same thing!

Baby has recovered from her surgeries very well, she is still in my house but loves her time outside running around the farm mornings and evenings.

Wilma is doing OK with her eye surgery, it must be itchy as she is always trying to get at it and all you hear is her scratching at her cone which I have to stop otherwise she will eventually manage to get it off, scratch and hurt herself. She is still on antibiotics and will go to the vet’s next week for her final check-up!

Cocotte will be going to the vet’s next week to remove her pins in her lower jaw, her broken jaw has healed wonderfully and she is doing very well. She is actually capable of grabbing things with her mouth which is a very good sign.

Vet’s tonight

I brought Sheenah for her follow-up examination after surgery tonight and she is doing very well, they were pleased with the way she is healing.  I know for a fact that Sheenah will be pleased that we don’t have to water down all of her meals to liquids and can finally eat canned goods.  Still can’t eat kibbles for a few weeks but she sure won’t be as starved with canned foods NOT liquified with water!

Also brought Monty for a follow-up examination after his luxating patella surgery last Friday, he too is doing well although they were worried about one of the stitches that was missing.  We re-stitched it, although Monty really didn’t like that part, he was fine afterwards and really was trying to get out of there fast.  I was laughing at him trying to hop away, little thing he does when he is in a rush is hop like a little rabbit instead of running properly – he will stop doing that in time.  It is the only way he knew how to walk/run before his surgery without his joints popping out of place!

I dropped off Wyatt and Winston for their neuters and shots for tomorrow, will pick them up after work tomorrow and see how they are doing.

Urgent doggy came in

Our volunteer driver came in at the Pet Value, just before I was heading out with an injured dog she picked up at the pound.  He was grabbed by another larger dog and shaken so had a few puncture wounds on his back.  I was already going to the vet’s to pick up Monty who stayed overnight after his surgery yesterday so off I went around 1:20pm to rush to the vet’s with our little Yodi.  We cleaned his wounds at the vet’s for the weekend and I am going to drop him off Monday at 7:30am for his dental cleaning and so that the vet can stitch a wound, his teeth are really bad and all brown.  They were closing at 2pm although Dr. Mobarak would have stayed to stitch his few small puncture wounds on his back but I decided to bring him back on Monday and get his much deserved dental cleaning done at the same time.  I prefer getting both done at the same time then having this 7-8 year old Yorkie mixed go in for 2 surgeries within weeks of each other.  He got his Rabies shots being that we weren’t sure if the dog who attacked him had his shots.  He is also on pain medications for the weekend, an injection immediately at the vet’s and to continue with Metacam at home.

Thanks Everyone for your support

I was at Pet Value on Centrum Blvd in Orleans from 10 am to 1pm today then Sonia was replacing me from 1pm to 4pm.  Thank you my NARC family for stopping in with donations, paper towels, javex, leashes, collars, toys, food.  Thank you to Pet Value Clientele for the canned goods they purchased and accumulated this week – over 2 cases of canned food and $100 was raised today.  It was really nice to see all of you and chit chat, foster homes, clients, regular donor, volunteers – all of you who came to say hello – thank you for your support with everything that we do.

Back at vet’s

I went after work to pick up Wilma who had stayed overnight yesterday, she is walking slow and always bumping into me with her cone but she will get the hang of having one eye in a few weeks time.  They want to keep Monty overnight so I will be coming back tomorrow after the Pet Value to get him at around 1:30pm.  I went to pet him and say hello but he is not paying attention much and seems to be out cold, poor baby!  Back tomorrow to pick him up and bring him home.

Picking up at vet’s

I went to pick up my gang at the vet’s but they wanted to keep Wilma another day on IV, she had her eye removed with her spay, it was quite a major surgery so we left her there for overnight stay and monitoring.  They hadn’t had time to get Monty’s surgery done so he is staying and going to be done tomorrow morning.  I took Baby home, she seems to be doing fine, a bit groggy but happy to see me.  Bunny was really groggy, walking slowly, she didn’t seem so sure to be coming to the front to see me until she came closer, then her tail was wagging and she looked happy to be going home.  Skippy was fine, seemed tired but overall had the “let’s go already” look.  I also brough Charlie and Poupoune in for the check-ups.  Charlie got his DACPP booster and Rabies and Poupoune got her Rabies.  They both could use a dental cleaning so although they are up for adoption, we will try to raise funds for that hopefully before they go!

Dropping off at the vet’s

Well, this week we have Wilma the soon to be one eyed dog to get spayed, remove her busted eye, check-up and Rabies.  We have Monty who is going in for his Luxating Patella surgery.  Baby going in for her spay, hernia removal and 2 dew claws that have 2 nails each which we think will be best removed, check-up, Rabies & DACPP.  Bunny for her spay, dental cleaning, check-up, Rabies and DACPP.  Skippy for his neuter, check-up and Rabies.  We are also bringing Katou for her Rabies and another check-up being that she is still coughing a bit after her antibiotics and her eyes are still not better!  Nakuuti went for her last check-up and Rabies, Oliver also for his last check-up, Rabies and DACPP Booster.  Let’s see tomorrow how the surgery dogs are!
