Dog Found!

We have posted this dog on different Facebook pages, Kijiji, UsedOttawa, Humane Society, etc… and no one has claimed him since Saturday! He is a golden labrador, few people said they went door to door on Morewood Street to see if they could find his family and so far no one has come forward. He was found on Morewwod Street, off HWY 31 on Saturday. If anyone knows his family, please contact us at 613-834-7005.

DID YOU KNOW?: The law gives you 72 hours to claim your pet! Please ensure you do so before the 72 hours at Humane Societies and SPCA otherwise you may not be able to claim your pet afterwards. Luckily, we are not as strict with this law and have matched families with their loves ones 4-6 days after they were brought in or picked up!

Vet’s this week and update

Went again with Takeshy last night for a bandage change, cleaning of his surgery. He is doing well, such a big suck and now used to going in every day for bandage changes so just lies there until we are done! I also dropped off Clayton, forgot to tell you guys that I picked up 2 Canaan dogs, gorgeous and super friendly. Clayton is being neutered and will be ready this weekend for adoption, we are sure he will go quickly with those blue/white eyes! Gidian will hopefully get neutered next week! We also took in what we think is a Leonberger – he is definitely gorgeous, friendly and a big suck! Will post pictures soon of our 3 beautiful boys!

Vet update

Lots going on at the vet’s this week, our little Shih-Tzu was going in for a hernia repair and her spay… It ended up being more than that, she had pyometra which is quite dangerous in dogs so it was removed during her spay. Quite a costly little girl! She was quite happy to see me but very quiet compared to her usual self. Pongo had his neuter done, he was the only one that was awake and happy to run to the car. And our poor Takeshy had to have a bit more of his toe removed and re-stitched! He was still out of it when I arrived at the vet’s, his heart rate too low so we waited around until he came back to and finally went for a walk/pee before going home. He was so pitiful last night walking slowly and not wanting to do stairs, have to pick him up to get him in the SUV and now pick him up to get up the stairs! Then we have our little Victoria, our scabies dog who went for her Ivermectin shot, she is doing much better and although looks like a hairless dog/rat, she ends up pulling your heart strings and you can only find her cute in her ugliness Ha! Ha! Now to spoil my little Takeshy until he finds his forever home – I really love this dog!

Vet’s this week

Had to bring Takeshy back to the vet’s last night and they kept him overnight, called this morning to say they need to re-stitch his toe. Somehow when we took the bandages out, the stitching came with it!! I dropped off Maité our little Shih-Tzu that was found in Orleans a few weeks back to remove her hernia including her spay, rabies and DA2PP and also Pongo our little mixed oreo cookie for his neuter, rabies and DA2PP. I am picking them all up tonight and they will be recovering at NARC for the next week or possibly longer for Takeshy! Poor boy, he is such a sweet lad and although cried like a baby when he got a big needle last night, he was still very sweet and a suck! Great dog as most would have tried to bite our hands off!!

Garage Sale Items – Small

We are preparing for the Glebe Garage Sale on May 23rd and could use a few smaller items such as jewelry, nice clothing, shoes/boots, collars/leashes, very small items, etc…  We can’t bring larger items as we only have one vehicle and it will be already quite packed with crates and the larger items we already have on hand.  If you have a few small items, bring them to 4388 Navan Road!  You can leave them at any time in our Donations Drop Off Box at the front of the property – or drop on by, we are opened most Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 3pm.

As most of you know, we will attempt to sell your times for NARC quite a few times to raise funds but… if they do not sell, they will be re-donated, given to the poor or passed on to other rescues!!!  There is always someone in need out there!

Thank you again to everyone out there whom have supported us throughout the years – we have started our 9th year of business on April 24th – quite AMAZING!!

Vet update

Takeshy our black lab had to get his toe amputated, poor baby, on top of his neuter today, rabies and DA2PP shot. Bambi looked quite groggy from her spay when I picked her up, she is such a doll. Both are now home and recovering from surgeries. Will have to keep Takeshy mostly inside so his toe can heal properly, short walks are on the horizon for him and I am quite sure I will be hearing some crying over that!! So now we will have to call him tri-toed Ha! Ha! Ha!

If you have instagram or facebook, follow NARC and have a look at the pictures posted after surgeries! Takeshy’s picture is up under available, have a look at him with his foot wrapped up.

Vet’s tonight

I dropped off Bambi our border collie puppy for her spay and Takeshy, our new black labrador for his neuter, rabies and DA2PP shots.  Tomorrow they will be coming home and starting their recovery, then available for adoption.  Better make it quick if you wish to meet or adopt them as we know they won’t be with us very long!

Update at NARC

Marcus and Charlotte have made their way to Navan from BC earlier this week, they left their fosters and flew home.  Marcus our little tan Chihuahua is ready for his home.

Lazara (a barely 6 week old puppy) was found at the lobby of our resort a few short days before we were leaving.  The maids brought her to us full of fleas, ticks, scabies and another little pest I have never seen before…  small as a grain of salt, black and crawly.  Luckily I brought my oregano and gave her a good bath when she was found to kill the pests.  She may not have lasted another day with the infestation she had…  She slept on my neck all night, chewing on my ear every few hours to wake me up for her milk.  Next morning, gave her another oregano bath to ensure all were dead and gone, gave her milk at the room and kept her with us all day.  She ate pork and chicken with water every 20 minutes to re-hydrate her.  We named her Lazara on behalf of Saint Lazaro – saint of all animals in Cuba.  She had an eye infection too but it was getting better after her shots.  Detsy a friend from Havana decided to take her home with her so we have also found her a forever home, she left with a bag of food and milk for her travel back from Cienfuegos to Havana.  The vet came to meet me in the lobby the next day to give her shots and of course, we had the other 3 doggies that hung around us vetted while we were there.  2 had owners and although Poupoune didn’t have a home, now that she was vetted we are hoping a Cuban will take her home.  The vet was so nice that he didn’t want to charge me for taking care of the resort dogs but we still gave him something to thank him, this way next time I call – he will come again!  Three volunteers of NARC travelling together, vetting and placing dogs in Cuba – quite the trip!  Wish I could do more…Lazada

Update on puppy and others

Well, god decided to keep this little puppy on earth and although we thought he wasn’t going to make it, he fought to live.  He is hopefully soon on his way to BC to live with one of our fosters and once with NARC his name will be “Survivor”.  I will add pictures to “Dogs Needing Help” page of him and the scabies dog which we is named “Victoria” for those who actually want to see the poor souls.  I know you are all curious but these pictures are real so only have a look if you think you can handle it!!!

Marcus and Anabelle were at our BC vet’s this week for their neuter/spay and are now recovering in their BC foster homes.  Hope is also recovering in her Ottawa Foster home from her spay and eye tag removal.  Bambi is with me right now but going to her new foster home tonight awaiting funds for her spay in the next few weeks, she has her rabies and DA2PP for now…  Pictures of her will be in the available soon later today.  All in all, things are going great and I see an even better future for our new arrivals!  New foster homes are always welcomed, NARC is slowly moving towards a foster based operation!

Closed March 28th to April 18th

We would like to THANK everyone that came to donate food the last few weekends – you guys ROCK! and of course our Goddy is gaining daily due to all of your help!  Our babies are sending you big Thank You HUGS!

We are closing for holidays from March 28th up to April 18thCLOSED Easter Weekend!  We only have Ace available for adoption right now but if you wish to meet him this week – give us a call!

Hope is going to the vet’s in Ottawa tomorrow, she will be spayed and have that eye tag finally removed, Bambi is also coming along for her check-up, Rabies and DA2PP!   Anabelle and Marcus are going to our British Columbia vet for their spay/neuter.  They will then be available for adoption in British Columbia until they fly to Ottawa.

We also picked up another black Chihuahua, possibly pregnant as per the vet’s so she is in a foster home in BC waiting for a flight here!

Our little puppy that was beat up had multiple fractures in his upper jaw and neck… so unfortunately we think it is impossible to save him.  On that note, we got word of a dog with Scabies who is at the vet’s for his 2 week treatments.  He is due to become a NARC dog afterwards and be transfered to BC in a foster.  I have pictures but will wait until he is better to show you the before and after… I really don’t want to make you all cry!!!
