Vet’s this week

I brought Journey and Abigail to the vet’s on wednesday for their neuter/spay on Thursday morning. Went to pick them up last night while bringing Zulaima for her Rabies, DA2PP and antibiotics as she has a bit of a fever and sniffles. Abigail is doing fine but seemed in pain, vet said she bled a lot but she will be recovering fine. Journey was happy to see me and although quite groggy and walking like a drunk, he was happy to get back home! They are recovering now and should be ready in a few days time for adoption. The girls at the vet’s really fell in love with Journey and Zulaima, they certainly are wonderful dogs, so docile and friendly and so well behaved!

Update at NARC

Forgot to let you know last week that all is well at NARC.  Isis, Adelina and Honorata are healing very well, surgeries had gone well and only Adelina was prescribed antibiotics due to her dental cleaning.  The vet had an emergency at his Bank clinic so we had to cancel Zulaima’s visit for shots and check-up but will re-schedule this week when we drop off Journey and Abigail for their neuter/spay and shots.  Journey and Zulaima have stolen the hearts of every volunteer at NARC and were a bit over spoiled this weekend with love and attention.  They are really wonderful and we are quite sure they will be in their loving homes very quickly, maybe even this weekend?

Vet’s this week

Dropped off Isis, Adelina and Honorata to the vet’s for their spays, Rabies and DA2PP tomorrow, Adelina will also have a well deserved dental cleaning.  Also bringing our new Rottie mixed 5 month old babe we names Zulaima tomorrow for her shots, she should be available this weekend if the vet gives us thumbs up.  A real gem, so sweet and adorable, really will be the best dog ever.  We also have a gorgeous year old Rottie that has joined our home, I was going to name him Bigfood but changed my mind and am now naming him Journey.  He was found as a stray and his journey was to find us here at NARC!  Great, beautiful and already has stolen all the volunteer’s heart – he is going to be a keeper.  Learnt to sit and give the paw within an hour on the first night he came home – such a wonderful doggy!!!

CANCELLED – Silent Auction on Sunday

Yesterday, one week prior to our event, the Club Citadelle called to let us know that we are not allowed to have a Silent Auction on their premises!  That being said, our volunteers are working in getting re-imbursed for the rental in order to pay for another location.   At this point, we have to cancel our event but will definitely find another location and have our Silent Auction in the next few weeks.  Keep your eyes on our blog to find information, details and future date!

Motherhood to the extreme!

Abigail is really the best mother doggy we have all ever seen but… she often makes us gag that’s for sure!  Motherhood to the extreme, puppies are 6 weeks and a few days old, usually mommies stop eating poop at approx 5 weeks when the poop is solid and the puppies are eating and drinking but…  Abigail still likes to gobble it all down and at times I’ve seen a few volunteers gag at the whole process Ha! Ha! Ha!  Well, at least the room is clean for us when we go in there, except for a few pipis on the paper, there is never poop to pick up lol.  OK, I know it’s gross but really had to share this as we’ve never – even seen this before!!  Our doggies also love their Kuranda Beds – thank you to those who have donated a bed to one of our rescues!

Vet’s yesterday

Brought 9 of Isis’ puppies and 4 of Abigail’s puppies to the vet’s for their check-ups and DA2PP shots.  All were given thumbs up, Isis puppies are approx 7 weeks so ready for adoption next weekend and Abigail’s babes will be ready March 15th.  Come visit us to meet them – they will surely go pretty fast!

Vet’s last night

Picked up Philomena and although she was shy with the everyone at the clinic, they thought she was very sweet.  She is now recovering from her spay at home.  Juno was a bit stressed and banged his tail somehow so he has cream for it although it’s not that bad, still needs to heal properly.  He is also recovering nicely at NARC.  Now for the 13 puppies on saturday for their first DA2PP – that should be entertaining Ha! Ha! Ha!

Exciting news for Manoushka

The Canada Border Services Agency, Detector Dog Training Program Instructors have just sent us payment for Manoushka which means SHE PASSED!  She had left with them in September to start their 90 day training in October and has now officially become a one of their work dogs.  Good luck my girl, I knew you could do it and become a wonderful work dog!
