Maggo is at the vet’s

I dropped off Magoo this evening at the vet’s for his neuter and shots tomorrow, let’s home all goes well for him!  Right now, we are lacking rabies tag so the dogs that we are vetting these past few weeks won’t have their rabies tag but we will mail them to you once the vet received them and provides them to NARC.  We thank you for your patience!

Grooming, Grooming and more Grooming

Spent the day grooming quite a few dogs…  Dixy, Oscar, Lucky, Charlie, Shar got a much needed shave down and Pablo, well… he got into burrs so I shaved it all off for him too – bugger!  Also gave a well deserved bath to Wilma who was quite dirty as we weren’t able to wash her after her spay and eye surgery.  She loved the rub down and attention, doesn’t have her cone anymore and seems to be very pleased about that too.  Such a sweet dog!

Send our pledge forms to friends, coworkers and family members, we need to “raise the roof” for NARC, either to buy a new building or finally get a roof on the NARC mobile home so we can remain in business.  Please help our cause!

Raise the Roof for NARC

Yep, we will go around to see if companies and people would like to “Raise the Roof for NARC”.  That being said, we are both looking for a roof for NARC’s mobile home, trusses, shingles, etc… and we are also looking for a new building so hoping that people get together and start raising funds for these two major items.  This mobile home won’t last another year without a roof, has to be done by end of summer or there is no longer a NARC to speak of…  So, get your pledge forms, get pledges from work for our walkathon coming up in October, talk with friends, give them a pledge form and let’s “Raise the Roof”.  This is mandatory, if we don’t have this resolved soon, we need to close as I am not taking 40 something dogs into my home!!  We’ve already reduced taking in new dogs drastically as you can see from our blog and are trying to place as many as we can before the winter comes.  I can’t afford another winter with $1,200-1,500 hydro bills for NARC’s mobile home… a roof is mandatory to keep the home warm and bills lowered and the dogs dry!  If anyone knows of anyone that could build a basement to the mobile home, that would reduce another expense, heating under the home for nothing – having a basement would be for something, using the space for grooming, etc…

Pet Value Orleans Today

I am leaving shortly for the Pet Value on Centrum Blvd in Orleans this morning, will be there from 10am to 12:30pm.  There is a carnaval there today so hopefully I’ll be sharing the NARC name to new folks and raising a bit of money for our rescues.  Wish me luck and hoping to see a few of you there!  I’ll be bringing Monty and Wilma today.

Update at vet’s

All went well, picked up my four babies from the vet’s, they were a bit groggy but otherwise were happy to come home.  They were all quite young so no one needed dental cleaning or such and other than metacam for a few days for pain, they will recover well.

Vets this week

I dropped off Sweetums, Oakley, Huan and Smitty for their spay and neuters today, shots, check-ups.  They should be ready by next weekend for adoption if all goes well and they don’t need antibiotics.  Will keep you posted!

Navan Fair Parade & Pet Value Ogilvie tomorrow

Quite a few of our volunteers will be walking, rain or shine at the Navan Fair Parade tomorrow with some doggies. Let’s hope it shines and that we don’t get rained on! It starts at 11am till noon and we should be back at NARC for 1pm.

We also have a volunteer going at the Pet Value on Ogilvie Road with flyers, information and a dog or two to show off or for adoption. If you have donations and wish to bring them there or at NARC, we will have people available for you.

Hoping to see some of you at the Parade which is where I will be in attendance being that we certainly will have over 10 doggies walking with us!

Juliette – home with me!

I picked up Juliette tonight and set her up at home with me for her recovery. Don’t want her at NARC right now, she needs some quiet time to recover properly and of course will start her exercises with me in a few days. Dave was there when I brought her home and saw how head low, in pain she must be! Poor little girl, she went in her large crate and settled down for the night and I didn’t hear anything from her! She will be getting 4-5 short walks daily for a few days and increasing to a bit more activity and exercises by Sunday. Let’s all wish her a good recovery!

All are well and home!

Went to get my three at the vet’s tonight, Kinkaid was really happy to see me but wouldn’t hop into the truck so I had to lift him in, he was still a bit groggy. I also loaded Mattie who was excited to come in the car and she wanted to jump in but I didn’t let her and loaded her myself. Juliette will be staying at the vet’s another night so will get her tomorrow morning, she was sleeping when I arrived and looked a bit out of it… poor baby!
