What a great day! Almost $1,800 raised…

Another amazing day at NARC!  The walkathon wasn’t as busy as previous years but clients and volunteers who came managed to raise $1,550.25.  We sold for $170.22 at the garage sale and made $38.00 with the nail clipping with a grand total of $1,758.47 to help “raise the roof” for NARC.

A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who were here bright and early with me today, setting up for the garage sale, some to clean the rescue/walk dogs and others who worked like horses shoveling gravel and re-installing the dog runs in their new places.  The property looks great and so much bigger!  Now to bring the greenhouse that I bought and hopefully install it before it snows!

Vernon is back…

I picke dup Vernon tonight from the vet’s, he is doing better but still needs to gain a lot of weight.  But, he is a good eater so we know for sure he will gain quickly!  He is on antibiotics and metrodonizale for a mild case of the flu, although it’s normal being we are feeding him canned goods to fatten him up!  We did a poop sample and everything came back negative so it has to be all the food intake!  He is home and eating like a little pig lol.

Silky Terrier or???? found as stray!

If you have lost your dog, black, female, silky terrier or not really sure of her breed, she is a small breed and was found near Anderson Road.  Will need proof of ownership, in hopes of finding her owners shortly!

Trusses are HERE!

Yep, we have our trusses from the “raise the roof” campaign, now to see when the boys will come and install them!  If you know of anyone free this week or next to install these trusses, please send them out way!  Would be nice if we could get them installed soon so that we can then proceed to insulate, install the metal sheets on them, soffits, etc…

Vernon staying another night!

I picked up Venus and Silo from the vet’s tonight but they are keeping Vernon another night on IV.  Venus and Silo are doing very well, what great dogs, labrador mixed but so cute and friendly.  They will certainly find homes soon as they aren’t big, sweet and already crate trained.  I’ll keep you posted on Vernon tomorrow!

Vet appointments this week

I dropped off Venus, Silo and Vernon at the vet’s tonight.  Venus for her spay and shots, both boys for their neuter and shots.  Vernon is still quite skinny but we are fattening him up with canned goods, hopefully the person who falls in love with him and adopts him gets him up to a decent weight but for now, he is in our hands and we’ll put a few pounds on him before he goes!  We’ll see what the vet says tomorrow about the lot!

Vetting tonight

I picked up Kate, Akira and Zenora from the vet’s after their spay tonight.  We did another eye dye test on Kate, her tumor has healed very well but we will keep her on drops this week.  I have been doing hot compresses every morning to help with her healing and the vet was happy with that.    Akira and Zenora were fine but a bit groggy, they are now resting for the night!  I had to leave Cloette and will pick her up tomorrow.

At the vet’s we go again!

Dropping off Kate for her spay and another eye dye test to see how her ulcar is doing, so far so good with hot compresses daily but we’ll see what the vet says.  Left Akira and Zenora for their spay and shots updated and of course our little Cloette for her major dental cleaning with extractions, spay, shots, etc…  Will keep you posted on how they are doing!

What a wonderful weekend!

Elizabeth raised $1,000 for NARC, matching that amount herself personally so she made a deposit on our veterinary invoice for this week in the amount of $2,000.  Thank you to everyone who supported her and us in all of this.  A few other clients came with donations to “raise the roof”.  The trusses are ordered and arriving next week, spoke to a few contractors to see how much it will cost to have them installed and awaiting an answer on that.

Wonderful volunteers came this weekend and dismantled the metal greenhouse I purchased last year at the neighbour’s house and are to bring it here at home and re-install it on my old slab – where my old house used to be before the fire.  That will give us a great spot to bring the dogs into this winter to play ball, have fun and so that clients can interact with them more.  It will be over 50 foot long and 25 wide which is wonderful, it is longer than that now but we will make it smaller so it is sturdier.

All in all, things are progressing as planned and looking good!  All the volunteers are happy and can’t wait to see the end result.  We also got a new dog run donated and installed it already, this is the 2nd large dog run donated this summer – awsome!  Well, they will be even more awsome for next summer, with the weather changing we won’t be using them much now till next spring but at least we have them!  Too bad it’s starting to get cold – boo hoo hoo!
