Year old German Sheppard, gorgeous and super nice and friendly, will follow you everywhere and wants to be by your side - a big suck. Good with other dogs and has not bothered with the cats. Just neutered so recovering now but will go fast! Clean in our home and at the vet's, still some shedding but we took a lot off and he was also pretty good in his 1st bath although wasn't really liking it Ha! Ha! Rabies, DAPP-L, Neutered, dewormed, multi-advantage, etc..

A bit jumpy at the touch but was pretty good with letting us pick him up to place in the bathing tub, bathe and pick him up again to take him out of the tub. After 5 minutes of towel drying, he walked away and you could tell he had had enough of the over manipulation Ha! Ha! Overall a good boy though for his first night with us and bath. After the towel was dropped to the floor, he came back for some loving. Sweet dog, was good with the vet and technicians and held his business for outside - very good. Shiba Inu mixed? approx. 1.5 years old, just neutered, rabies, DAPP-L, dewormed, multi-advantage...
Mikey

Cute little chihuahua mixed, a bit shy with people at first but will follow you everywhere and always wants to be picked up. A big baby! Approx 11 months old, still a puppy personality and when he hears loud noises near him, he will whimper as he gets a bit scared. In time, he will boost his confidence and be OK. Right now, he just wants to snuggle up with you and be loved. Neutered, Rabies, DAPP, Microchip, dewormed, multi-advantage, etc...
Max (Needs an experienced handler)
Max (Needs an experienced handler)
A great boy who needs a special and firm family. When introduced properly to other dogs, he can be friendly and play with them, we have videos of him playing with smaller dogs without issues but they were slowly introduced. His food and toy possession issues are being trained out of him and he is doing extremely well. You see, Max was a scavenger for food previously to being in rescue so had not learned the proper manners but he trains quickly which is great. He is very food motivated so he will climb mountains for a kibble lol. He is a great dog, really playful and a lover but we would prefer a home without kids and/or other dogs for Max. A great dog for someone wanting to take on the challenge of training - an experienced handler is a must as he is a big goofy guy! We can share our videos on feeding, training, playing with other dogs - the problem with Max is that he is so sweet, people tend to forget with his sweet nature that he is a BIG BOY who acts like a small baby. Neutered, microchip, Rabies, DAPP, dewormed, multi-advantage, etc...
Mystique

Such a sweet and docile "fatso" Ha! Ha! Ha! She is shy at first and with certain people, will come around in time in her new home. Clean in our home, doesn't get into trouble and is well behaved. Wants the attention just doesn't know how to get it properly but starting to act like a normal dog. We think whoever had her were giving her only house food as she will try and not eat her kibbles to get something of yours. We are adding some canned goods to her meals to entice her to eat but she is obese so, was eating just fine before the "real dog food" was introduced Ha! Ha! Looks like a Border mixed Chow?? Approx 1.5-2 years old as per the vet. Spayed, Rabies, DAPP-L, dewormed, multi-advantage, etc...
kittens

These little guys were found outside way too young, they were approx 4-5 weeks when they were dropped here... No momma around so we took them in, started with bottle feeding but now they are eating and drinking on their own. Approx 6-7 weeks now and doing well. Dewormed, multi-advantage and ready for their loving homes. Dewormed, multi-advantage.

I just wanted to let you all know that Maya is doing very well. She seems to be pretty well house-trained and seems quite happy with all the attention she is getting. She is in love with my son and sits by the front door for hours near his shoes when he leaves. When he comes in late at night, she jumps off my bed and runs down to the basement to be with him. Ha ha. She is so happy. She is a lovely little girl. I was wondering if you think Winston would be a good companion for her. I noticed that you kept him in a large cage with a big grey dog when I was there. Is there a reason for this. Do you think he and Maya would get along. Sorry, the question mark key on my keyboard does not function. By the way, I am taking Maya to the vet this weekend and have not received her papers from you yet. Did you say you were goiong to mail them to me or did I imagine that. Does she need to get a parvo shot. Is this usual. Anything else I should tell the vet about her. Gisele

Magoo is probably Lhasa-Poo (Lhasa Apso mixed Poodle) and Cloette is probably Shi-Poo (Shih-Tzu mixed Poodle). We don’t DNA them but from their looks, this is what the vet’s and NARC think they are in breeds. Thanks.

  11. mec says:

What breeds are Cloette and Magoo, please?

We are fostering Twiggy and I want to say that at first I thought that I didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into, but from the first day we brought her home she really surprised us.
She is very well behaved in the house; and it took only a few days to train her to go to the bathroom.
She came to NARC emaciated therefore we thought that she would have food aggression, however its quite the opposite, she is so gentle accepting food, and no matter how hungry she is, you can take food out of her mouth and she will give in up without a fight. She is also not a picky eater.

She is a gorgeous dog, when we take her to the park we get a ton of comments on her bread and looks. She is a fast runner, almost makes me think she part Grey Hound.

She loves everyone, all dogs and has a very gentle nature. At the park she just wants to play with every dog she sees and is gently with the little dogs.

She is truly a wonderful dog and would make a great pet for any family or individual.
She only needs the chance to prove it 🙂

Hi there, I was wondering if Chucky has found a home yet? I’m interested in meeting him this weekend – possibly Sunday if you could get back to me please? Thank you!

  16. mmayer3 says:

We don’t have background information on our rescues, most are found as strays – if you look at our website further, you will see that we only take death row dogs from pounds, SPCA’s and Humane Societies, we don’t take releases so wouldn’t have any background information on any of the dogs we rescue.

    Hi,

I am very interested in little Skippy but have a million questions before I can get out to see him. Hopefully he hasn’t been adopted yet.

I was looking for a Chi with Skippy’s exact write up but will take a younger Chi if Skippy has found his forever home. I was looking specifically for a small Chi if at all possible and since I am have a disability I will have to speak with you first before I come out to Navan.

I guess I can ask the questions here too. The questions are: Do you know anything about Skippy’s background? Does he have any serious medical issues? Is he completely pee pad trained? This pee pad question is very important. What is his personality like? Is he okay with cats, I have one 12 year old Himalyan who has been around dogs? What is Skippy’s height and weight? How long is he? I ask those last questions as I was looking for a small Chi? I am hoping Skippy is still available. Thank you for your time.

  26. Cheryl Chartier says:

Bunny is a wonderful little dog that I was lucky enough to have in my home for four days. She is very loving and extremely well behaved. She walks well on a lead and does not pull. She is house trained (at least there were no mistakes in my apartment although I did take her out often). She travels beautifully in the car while crated and slept overnight in her crate with no accidents!! She is friendly when meeting other dogs . She was quiet after a few lessons on not barking in the apartment and settled in well. I fell in love with Bunny and my full intention was to adopt her but she was not well accepted by my Jack Russell terrier who is a dominant female.
Make no mistake, in spite of her 8lbs Bunny is tough and stands her ground but she was no match for the Jack!!!
Fortunately I was on the Foster to adopt program and when I phoned Michelle and told her there was a problem with my dog accepting Bunny she quickly agreed to take her back to her friends at NARC.
I am very very sad to loose such and excellent dog – she was perfect for me but it was not meant to be.

If anyone is looking for an excellent little loving dog please have a look at Bunny. I warn you though once you pick her up in your arms then take her for a walk you will be caught in her charm!!!

I adopted Zoomba (shih-tzu) now Beau, last October, and am seriously considering adopting a little sister to join us. Are there any young hypoallergenic girls ‘soon’ to be available. I say ‘soon’ as I will need to take a few weeks off my job to work with them and ensure they know that there is only one pack leader – me. Beau is 2.5/years and I would like a younger sister 18-24 mths. Thanks

  28. mmayer3 says:

One little girl left, beige and white and scruffy looking!

  29. Agnieszka says:

I am currently fostering Pompei. He is a wonderful dog and I enjoy having him at the house.

He is very affectionate and cuddly. As soon as you walk up to him he leans his head against you and enjoys the affection you give him. He has a very gentle nature and is great with children and other dogs.

He travels very well in the car, sometimes I forget that I have a dog in the back because he sits there so quietly.

His fur is longer now, so he looks a lot different….much cuter than in the photo above. He also does not shed.

Pompei would make a great pet for anyone, and I’m not sure how he ended up at the shelter in the first place.
