Adoption pending - Ceasar - joining us on Dec 2nd
Adoption pending - Ceasar - joining us on Dec 2nd
Sharpei mixed Labrador, 5 years old and dumped at a local place where they said he spent days waiting for his owners to return. While he was patiently waiting for over a week at this hot cemented parking lot, he greeted customers with a wagging tail in hopes that someone would take him home - until a fellow rescue saw him and brought him home wishing that he finds his last fur-ever home. Great with everyone he has met, good with other dogs, cats, etc... He is the sweetest boy, calm and quiet. Since Ceasar has been with us, he has bonded with members of his foster family, mostly the husband but is still very shy with strangers. Ceasar was tested for heartworm and was positive, she has been treated for heartworm and will come with 6 months of heartgard to take.
Keller is approx. 7-8 years old but as you know, we never really know our dogs ages and this is a guestimate from our vets... Some doggies are said to be older due to bad nutrition and teeth showing more tartar when they may be quite younger. I am saying all of this as Keller does act very young so he may be definitely younger than stipulated. Mixed Miniature Pincher, super cute and friendly, great with everyone he has met including children. Energetic dog, full of life and spunk, funny and active. Fully vetted, neutered, rabies, DAPP, bordetella, microchip, dewormed, multi-advantage including heartworm tested negative.
Female chihuahua (now with some cream coloring coming out) approx 8 pounds, super sweet but very shy with strangers. Will need a family with some tender loving care and we know she will come around with some loving. Although, once with someone for a few hours, she will jump on your lap for some snuggling - she is just shy on initial visits. She is adorable though, not a mean bone in her body and a very loving dog when she knows you. Great with other dogs, cats and everyone she has met. Snow is having some difficulty going outside on these cold days so is paper trained but on warm days, she is clean and does her business outside.

I just wanted to let you all know that Maya is doing very well. She seems to be pretty well house-trained and seems quite happy with all the attention she is getting. She is in love with my son and sits by the front door for hours near his shoes when he leaves. When he comes in late at night, she jumps off my bed and runs down to the basement to be with him. Ha ha. She is so happy. She is a lovely little girl. I was wondering if you think Winston would be a good companion for her. I noticed that you kept him in a large cage with a big grey dog when I was there. Is there a reason for this. Do you think he and Maya would get along. Sorry, the question mark key on my keyboard does not function. By the way, I am taking Maya to the vet this weekend and have not received her papers from you yet. Did you say you were goiong to mail them to me or did I imagine that. Does she need to get a parvo shot. Is this usual. Anything else I should tell the vet about her. Gisele

Magoo is probably Lhasa-Poo (Lhasa Apso mixed Poodle) and Cloette is probably Shi-Poo (Shih-Tzu mixed Poodle). We don’t DNA them but from their looks, this is what the vet’s and NARC think they are in breeds. Thanks.

  8. mec says:

What breeds are Cloette and Magoo, please?

We are fostering Twiggy and I want to say that at first I thought that I didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into, but from the first day we brought her home she really surprised us.
She is very well behaved in the house; and it took only a few days to train her to go to the bathroom.
She came to NARC emaciated therefore we thought that she would have food aggression, however its quite the opposite, she is so gentle accepting food, and no matter how hungry she is, you can take food out of her mouth and she will give in up without a fight. She is also not a picky eater.

She is a gorgeous dog, when we take her to the park we get a ton of comments on her bread and looks. She is a fast runner, almost makes me think she part Grey Hound.

She loves everyone, all dogs and has a very gentle nature. At the park she just wants to play with every dog she sees and is gently with the little dogs.

She is truly a wonderful dog and would make a great pet for any family or individual.
She only needs the chance to prove it 🙂

Hi there, I was wondering if Chucky has found a home yet? I’m interested in meeting him this weekend – possibly Sunday if you could get back to me please? Thank you!

We don’t have background information on our rescues, most are found as strays – if you look at our website further, you will see that we only take death row dogs from pounds, SPCA’s and Humane Societies, we don’t take releases so wouldn’t have any background information on any of the dogs we rescue.

I just noticed that you have another male chihuahua that you just picked up and would like to maybe have a look at him too if you wouldn’t mind. I will watch for pictures of him on the site. Thanks.

I am very interested in little Skippy but have a million questions before I can get out to see him. Hopefully he hasn’t been adopted yet.

I was looking for a Chi with Skippy’s exact write up but will take a younger Chi if Skippy has found his forever home. I was looking specifically for a small Chi if at all possible and since I am have a disability I will have to speak with you first before I come out to Navan.

I guess I can ask the questions here too. The questions are: Do you know anything about Skippy’s background? Does he have any serious medical issues? Is he completely pee pad trained? This pee pad question is very important. What is his personality like? Is he okay with cats, I have one 12 year old Himalyan who has been around dogs? What is Skippy’s height and weight? How long is he? I ask those last questions as I was looking for a small Chi? I am hoping Skippy is still available. Thank you for your time.

Bunny is a wonderful little dog that I was lucky enough to have in my home for four days. She is very loving and extremely well behaved. She walks well on a lead and does not pull. She is house trained (at least there were no mistakes in my apartment although I did take her out often). She travels beautifully in the car while crated and slept overnight in her crate with no accidents!! She is friendly when meeting other dogs . She was quiet after a few lessons on not barking in the apartment and settled in well. I fell in love with Bunny and my full intention was to adopt her but she was not well accepted by my Jack Russell terrier who is a dominant female.
Make no mistake, in spite of her 8lbs Bunny is tough and stands her ground but she was no match for the Jack!!!
Fortunately I was on the Foster to adopt program and when I phoned Michelle and told her there was a problem with my dog accepting Bunny she quickly agreed to take her back to her friends at NARC.
I am very very sad to loose such and excellent dog – she was perfect for me but it was not meant to be.

If anyone is looking for an excellent little loving dog please have a look at Bunny. I warn you though once you pick her up in your arms then take her for a walk you will be caught in her charm!!!

I adopted Zoomba (shih-tzu) now Beau, last October, and am seriously considering adopting a little sister to join us. Are there any young hypoallergenic girls ‘soon’ to be available. I say ‘soon’ as I will need to take a few weeks off my job to work with them and ensure they know that there is only one pack leader – me. Beau is 2.5/years and I would like a younger sister 18-24 mths. Thanks

  25. mmayer3 says:

One little girl left, beige and white and scruffy looking!

I am currently fostering Pompei. He is a wonderful dog and I enjoy having him at the house.

He is very affectionate and cuddly. As soon as you walk up to him he leans his head against you and enjoys the affection you give him. He has a very gentle nature and is great with children and other dogs.

He travels very well in the car, sometimes I forget that I have a dog in the back because he sits there so quietly.

His fur is longer now, so he looks a lot different….much cuter than in the photo above. He also does not shed.

Pompei would make a great pet for anyone, and I’m not sure how he ended up at the shelter in the first place.
